It's Make It Monday over at Papertrey Ink and this is my first entry! Creative Coasters is the theme for participating this week and it's been a blast using their coasters! They cut so easily. I have been in decorating wedding mode for over a year as both sons have married within six months of each other! The eldest son was recently wed in Varadero, Cuba last month. So let's see what I created incorporating coasters into a wedding banner!! We had sooo much fun…congrats to my son and his new wife!

I saw this vintage Danish table and these two unique chairs in an ad Friday night and immediately called to make an appointment to go see it yesterday. I was first in line and I could not pass this up! I've been looking for a small table in my studio and really wanted a creamy white to brighten up my space.

My buddy Chevy. An English Springer Spaniel, just over a year now and he is the sweetest dog we've ever had! Or known. Chevy absolutely loves everyone he meets. Here, he was helping me rake the maple leaves from the front yard. We waited for some neighbourhood kids to join in the fun, but sadly none came by so the photo op was all about him...

If you read my last post you would of found out Halloween is not one of my favourite "things." However, when I got a post from Paper Jewels and saw a neat idea for grown ups, I decided to create a couple for my adult kids. I went to the websites she recommended to print some poisonous and apothecary labels. First, aging and distressing a full sheet of adhesive paper before printing the labels gave me the effect I was hoping for.

Hey there! I've been missing in action for the whole summer with a little of this, a lot of that and busy, busy times! This is the year of being in constant wedding mode. Our youngest son got married at the beginning of the summer and it was a beautiful, memorable and fun event in our lives. I made the wedding invitations, favours and matching thank you cards for the couple. Our eldest son, is having a beach destination wedding in January, for which I made the invitations too. I continued with my summer job in third year as a wine tour guide, had another birthday (oh joy) and returned to work at my neighbourhood school with an assignment I love. Really, can many of you say you look forward in getting up each morning to work at a job? I am so fortunate to return and simply adore the teachers and students I support!

Wow, May seemed to go by rather quickly! It must be because this month the assignment was to make a "To-Do List." Being a loving, Virgo, list maker...this was easy for me to complete. I start each day with a list...really, no kidding!! I even go through the recycled bin at work and make paper pads just for my lists! A little bit of extra work making your own chicken filled wontons with grocery bought wonton wrappers but once you make it, this recipe will be one that you go to again and again!. You'll find wonton wrappers in either the asian frozen foods section or the fresh noodles in the produce isle. This recipe has become a favourite because the broth is light and the wontons are made with ground chicken. Low calorie too!

Roasted Cauliflower Soup

Today I made this recipe for Roasted Cauliflower Soup. We love soup at anytime of the year, but this one is a keeper for the colder winter months. I think it's the blend of the garlic and cheese that makes it so tasty. Don't like cauliflower? It's not my favourite cooked veggie either. But that's why it's roasted, for carmelizing to add flavour and colour.

Welcome to my first blog post of 2011! Another year of memories has passed and I look forward to a brand new year full of adventures, people and events! In honour of the new year, I have been working on a 2011 calendar that highlights cards and photos. There is nothing like receiving a crisp, blank calendar that is fun and functional. I wonder if others save their past calendars as I do? It's the best document of what happened in our life throughout the year. I find it is useful when scrap booking a page to recall a date or an event.

Papertrey Ink December Blog Hop Challenge

This month the challenge is to use holiday leftovers using scraps of wrapping paper, parts of
holiday cards, recycle gift tags or bits of ribbon on a paper crafting project. We all have plenty of it
laying around after all the holiday excitement and this is your chance to incorporate some of those pretty
little things into an amazing piece of art!

It's been a very long while I've been able to find the time to participate in a blog hop. Today, after the rain subsided...yes RAIN, the pineapple express coming at British Columbia from Hawaii...and a walk with the new pup, I had the opportunity to put my idea into something tangible! A cherished card I received this holiday from my school principal. Inside, I am keeping the warm sentiment she wrote as I am sure she did for everyone she sent cards to...she is a keeper!

We all need a Christmas thank you or two so here was the chance to get one done to mail out this week. I used an idea from Michelle Wooderson to whip this up in no time. I used the glittery center of the Christmas card and combined it with a paper doily to PTI kraft cardstock, a silk poinsettia and couple of leaves. The silk parts were from a gift I had received so I thought to recycle them as well. I added a senti from PTI Signature Christmas! I adore that sentiment set!!!

My dearest hubby got me a Nikon D3100 camera with an 18-55mm lens with a 3 lens extension rings. Can't wait to share my new photos!

Annnd...my family. I need to add them here and tell the whole world how blessed I am to have them! The girls are my daughter-in-laws to be. Both weddings will take place in 2011.

Deck the halls with boughs of holly...fa la la la la...oooh, you get the idea! If you stopped in for a visit yesterday, you are here to see a bit of holiday decor around our home. I loove to decorate! I add a bit and change things up from year to year and I think this year is all about keeping it simple. So that means I didn't go out and buy anything, I just looked through boxes, cupboards and drawers of what I already have!

Today...I declare Pajama Day!! Yup, still down with the flu, but just enough energy to make tags for Christmas parcels and blog about it over a pot of honey lemon ginseng green tea and a yummy butter tart! I think I feel better already! My sons tell me it isn't Christmas without my homemade butter tarts. (I will give you the recipe tomorrow too! A girl can only do so much in one day!)

Hey there! Welcome to my corner of the world tonight in Beautiful British Columbia.
This months' PTI Blog Hop Challenge is all about color and I choose to go with bright!

The weather...should I even go there?...has been dull to say the least, and I think I have been color deprived! My flower garden was a bit of my inspiration for this card as well as PTI Designer Betsy Veldman on her tutorial about making rosebuds with the rick rack die using felt. I love that felt...it really cuts like butter!

Here's my recipe using all Papertrey Ink goodies:
Stamp - Buttterfly Dreams
Ink - Fresh Snow, Hawaiian Shores
Cardstock - Hawaiian Shores, Orange Zest, Rustic Cream
Dies - Beautiful Blooms 11 #2, Rickrack Border and Butterfly
Felt - Raspberry Fizz, Simply Chartreuse
Ribbon - New Leaf
Button - Raspberry Fizz
Twine - Rustic Cream
Other - white gel pen, white embossing powder

Here's a nice close-up of the felt flower and hand cut leaves. On the second layer of flower, I used two of the same size and folded them in half to look like one layer just to give it more definition. I tied the twine around the ribbon to look like a stem or vine for the border. Just on the left side of the cardstock, I stamped a border of buttterflies in fresh snow ink and dotted their tiny heads with a white gel ink pen. For the butterfly, I tied the button with twine to mimic their antennas.

Vancouver in May

I have been wanting to share a few photos of our trip to Vancouver last month. What a sweet time hubby and I had! We saw the Eagles at GM Place on May 10th and wow did they ever put on a good show! They still have it! How fun is it when you know ALL the words to every song. This was our first time seeing a large concert and I certainly would do it again. Not only did we have a fabulous time seeing the Eagles..the next night.... we also saw the last playoff game of the Vancouver Canucks!

How lucky was it that our son managed to get tickets and was a couple rows down from us. Hey...like father, like son? Yup, you can tell they are related! Even though the Canucks lost, we are forever fans.

And here are a few more photos of our touring downtown....love Vancouver for the fact that you can walk everywhere! We walked up to the new Convention Center and back down to Gastown for lunch. The Old Spaghetti Factory is tops on our list...the best lime margarita!! No your eyes are not crossed and the picture is in focus. It's a Lego Orca!

I first found these great note pads from Staples. They appeal to me because they are made from 100% recycled paper and the lines are inked in brown. Really love that it is very natural looking! Even the top strip is like a recycled brown bag!
